Nigel Williams’ stage adaptation of William Golding’s Lord of the Flies has officially opened the 2011 Open Air Theatre season.

The performance, attended by Jennifer Saunders, Samantha Spiro, Eastenders actor Marc Elliott, Christopher Biggins and child psychologist Professor Tanya Byron, was described by The Times as "a remarkable evening...brilliantly staged" with "astonishing performances".
In an interview, The Daily Telegraph championed that Timothy Sheader "has redefined the possibilities for theatre in the open air".
Lord of the Flies runs until 18 June.
