As we celebrate Shakespeare400, we are delighted to announce full casting for Henry V.

Joining the already-announced Michelle Terry (as Henry), Charlotte Cornwell takes the role of Chorus. Most recently seen at the RSC as Gertrude in Hamlet and the Countess in All’s Well That Ends Well, Cornwell’s theatre, film and TV career spans both sides of the Atlantic, including US productions of The History Boys, An Enemy of the People, Master Class and A Little Night Music.

Having appeared in the BBCs War and Peace, as well as Edward II (National), David Sibley will also play characters including the Archbishop of Canterbury and the King of France.

The role of Princess Katherine will be taken by Ben Wiggins, whose recent credits include Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Middle Temple Hall), and Katherine’s maid, Alice, will be played by Joy Richardson. Joy’s extensive career has included the Nurse in Shakespeare in Love (Noel Coward Theatre) as well as Calpurnia in To Kill a Mockingbird at Manchester’s Royal Exchange.

Ancient Pistol is played by Philip Arditti, whose recent credits include As You Like It (National) and The Danish Girl, as well as playing Uday Hussein in the HBO/BBC drama House of Saddam. Phil Cheadle takes the role of Bardolph having recently appeared in The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas (Chichester Festival Theatre), and in Henry IV Part I and Henry IV Part II (Globe).

We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate our designer Anna Fleischle on her recent Olivier Award win (for Hangmen), as well as director Robert Hastie on his appointment as Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres – a role he starts following our production.
