Lighting

Howard Hudson, the Lighting Designer for On The Town, is making his debut at the Open Air Theatre. This theatre provides unique challenges for our creative teams, not least the Lighting Department who have to contend with the natural light constantly changing as night draws in. Howard has risen to the challenge, and his lighting design has been praised by the critics:

Drew McOnie’s choreography is ‘fiercely ignited, punctuated and presented by Howard Hudson's superbly imaginative lighting.’ (The Arts Desk)

“In a dream sequence, night-tinted by Howard Hudson’s wonderful lighting, everyone moves as if they were melting.” (The Observer)

This may be his first show at the Park, but Howard has worked on numerous celebrated productions, including: Romeo and Juliet, Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Linbury Studio and In the Heights, Southwark Playhouse and King’s Cross Theatre.

Gain a fascinating insight into what goes on behind the scenes, with a day-in-the-life of Lighting Designer Howard Hudson preparing On The Town with Whitelight Ltd.
