Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has today confirmed that they will launch their 2013 season with Harper Lee’s American classic
To Kill a Mockingbird, adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel.
Proving its success across every form, the 1960 novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize, followed by the film adaptation in 1962 which won three Oscars out of the eight it was nominated for. The play will run from 16 May to 15 June 2013, and will be directed by Artistic Director, Timothy Sheader.
The theatre will also present The Sound of Music, from 25 July to 7 Sep 2013, and it will be the first time a work by the hit musical-writing partnership of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II has been staged at the Open Air Theatre.
Further productions for the 2013 season will be announced
in the Autumn.
Across the 2013 season, the theatre will also be extending their BREEZE scheme (for 18-25 yrs) with over 700 preview tickets available for £10.
