As 2019 draws to a close, we look towards our 2020 season by welcoming our creative teams for Romeo and Juliet and Carousel.

Creating Romeo and Juliet (27 June – 25 July), director Kimberley Sykes is joined by designer Naomi Dawson, who designed our 2018 production of As You Like It, and movement director Shelley Maxwell – winner of the 2019 Black British Theatre Award for Best Choreography for Equus (Theatre Royal Stratford East/Trafalgar Studios). Also joining the team is three-time Olivier Award nominee Lee Curran as lighting designer (he previously lit our production of Jesus Christ Superstar and As You Like It) and sound designer and composer Giles Thomas, whose previous credits include Master Harold and the Boys (National Theatre) and Equus (Theatre Royal Stratford East/Trafalgar Studios).

For Carousel (31 July – 19 September), joining the already announced Timothy Sheader (director) and Drew McOnie (choreographer) are set and costume designer Tom Scutt – who won the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Set Design for Little Shop of Horrors, as well as designing Jesus Christ Superstar – and musical supervisor Tom Deering, who worked on our productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Jesus Christ Superstar and On The Town. Also joining the Carousel team are lighting designer Aideen Malone, who is currently working on A Kind of People (Royal Court) and Death of a Salesman (Young Vic/Piccadilly), and sound designer Nick Lidster for Autograph. Nick has been nominated for Best Sound Design for Evita in the WhatsOnStage Awards, and was an Olivier Award nominee for Jesus Christ Superstar.

The Season Associate Director (Voice & Text) is Barbara Houseman and dramaturg is Nic Wass. Casting is by Stuart Burt CDG and Annelie Powell CDG (Romeo and Juliet) and James Orange CDG (Carousel).
